Forticarb 5% is an antiprotozoal medicine belonging to the imidazoline group. Imidocarb is active against Babesia canis, Babesia gibsonii, and Ehrlichia canis, which parasitize dogs. It disrupts processes essential to the survival of Babesia, leading to the death of the parasites.
After parenteral administration, imidocarb is rapidly absorbed from the injection site and distributed throughout most organs and tissues. It is eliminated slowly, primarily through feces and urine.
